LASER MARKING TECHNOLOGY

There are two types of laser systems available adjusted accordingly to the material to be marked. Due to their physical properties, diode-pumped Nd:YAG solid state lasers made by ACI Laser GmbH are especially suitable for high-quality labelling on all kinds of metal, plastic, ceramics and foils. Adjusted to the specific application, several solid state laser systems with various levels of output power are available. The CO2 laser marking systems, however, are mainly used for labelling glass and organic material, i.e. wood, paper and leather.

LASER MARKING TECHNOLOGY

Laser marking offers unmatched flexibility, high machining quality and efficiency. A laser is capable of marking all kinds of material, without pre- and post-treatment. Marking with a laser beam is contactless. Easy programming allows users to apply barcodes, logos and other graphics, apart from making serial numbers and text. The Nd:YAG type laser is suited for marking many varieties of materials, including most metals, plastics and ceramics.

Generally, for different materials, we can adjust the parameters of laser marking system to get the best appearance and function. Usually, the variety of marking speed, laser power and Q-Switch frequency decides the marking result on a certain material.

Desired surfaces can be marked by an annealed or engraved marking, a colour change, or a carbonised marking – depending on their material and according to a client’s requirements. Metals are often marked by engraving or annealing, while plastic is usually marked by generating a colour change by the laser beam.
